Duties of the Rivers Farm Maremmas
Protect seven Alpacas from Predators
Alert farmer to anyone approaching
Work as a team with each dog spreading out to protect the entire herd
Eat and sleep with the Alpaca herd at all times
On guard at all times
Bark at all visitors
Maremmas protect the 

Alpacas at all times

The Rivers Farm sheer the Alpacas for their soft fiber
 
The Farm needs the Alpacas and the Alpacas need the Maremmas to keep them safe

2 Coyotes
Many squirrels
Rats
1 Medium sized deer
Maremma Facts
From Italy
Initially used exclusively for sheep
Were bred pure white to blend in with the sheep and fool the wolves
Were introduced to the United States in the 1970’s
Are sometimes called “lion” dogs because of their thick hair around their neck
Maremmas are good, hard working dogs; who will bark at you
