Maremmas
protect the
Alpacas at all times

Rivers Farm sheer the Alpacas for their soft fiber
The Farm needs the Alpacas and the
Alpacas need the Maremmas to keep them safe

Facts
•From Italy
•Initially
used exclusively for sheep
•Were
bred pure white to blend in with the sheep and fool the wolves
•Were
introduced to the United States in the 1970’s
•Are
sometimes called “lion” dogs because of their thick hair around their neck
Maremmas are
good, hard working dogs; who will bark at you
